Home > Using CampControl > Photographs > Viewing Photos in Google Earth Viewing Photos in Google Earth View this page in Español, Français, Português, Русский or another language. To view a Google Earth (GE) image showing the location of a georeferenced photo which your are viewing in the CampControl Photo Album Viewer, first ensure that GE is installed on your computer and then click on the "View in Google Earth" option in the Menu List on the left side of the Album Viewer. (If you do this with the thumbnails of an album displayed in the Album Viewer, locations of all the georeferenced photos in the album will be displayed by GE - providing what is often a very impressive map of photo coverage of an area.)When the system asks whether you want to Open or Save a "kml" file, click on "Open", and Google Earth will start up and eventually display a camera icon over an image showing where the photo(s) was taken. Clicking on the icon will cause GE to try to open a thumbnail image of the photo on the image. However the thumbnail shown will remain grey, as the GE application itself does not have permission to access your CampControl Photo Album. When, however, you click on the grey thumbnail, GE will use you browser, which does have permssion to access your album, to open the image in one of three places, depending on the way your GE system is configued: (a) In a newly created browser window, or (b) In the same window as the GE image, but to its right, separated by draggable vertical bar, or (c) In the same window as the GE image, but below it, separated by draggable horizontal bar. [In respect of Case (a) above, it may be important to have your pop-up blocker set to allow pop-ups.] See also |
